Faulkner Tennis Center is Tyler's Premier Public Tennis facility. 

The tennis park is part of Faulkner Park which includes baseball, skating, water and biking facilities. 

The park belongs to Tyler Parks and Recreation [P&R].

Friends of Faulkner [FOF] is a group of tennis players and park advocates working with Tyler Parks & Recreation [TP&R] and the Director of Tennis [DOT] to review particularly the tennis facilities.

 

FOF thanks Katy Rogers USTA-TX Community Services Manager | CTA Engagement for her support and guidance.

FOF is also partnered with The Northeast Texas Coalition Tennis Association, The Tyler Community Tennis Association and The Northeast Texas Pickleball Association .

Goals for this project include: 

  1. ​Faulkner Tennis Center operating budget and procedures (discovery, updating and or creation) for items like:

    1. Court maintenance: surfaces (daily, deep cleaning, resurfacing),
      nets, windscreens, sun shades, fencing, on-court water, lights...

    2. Pro shop maintenance: bathrooms, water fountain, ice machine, ball machine, phones, computer(s) ...

    3. Grounds maintenance: bench repairs and painting, fence and gate repairs...

  2. Immediate facility projects include:

    1. resurfacing 6 courts. (Courts 7 & 8 resurfaced 2024 / 11)
      Contractors estimate to resurface 6 courts (Link to estimate here)​​​

    2. review, repair or replace net tensioners x 8 

    3.  (fountain fixed and installed 24/11)   repair or replace facility water fountain â€‹

2025/01/22 Award from USTA for resurfacing grant      

                Award increased from $19,500 to $22,500 (15%) from US Open Legacy Initiative
           to accept this grant there is a blended line requirement: 

              for 3 - 60' (orange ball) courts  and 6 -36' (red ball) courts; 

                         it appears from the court resurfaces spec sheet below

                                 that there can be as many as 4 - 36' courts per "regular" court.  Clarification needed

The project has completed our technical review phase and will be invited to apply for funding.   Our Funding Application will be sent via email in the next few days.  Once the application is submitted a funding decision will be made.
